Q: Do I have to be a Christian to attend? (or connected to a Church?)
A: NO. All are welcome, regardless of your faith tradition, or religious affiliation. The Tweener system has documented over 206 Churches represented across our membership, coming from a substantial number of varied faiths: Armenian, Baptist, Buddhist, Catholic, Episcopal, Jewish, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Russian Orthodox, and Non-Denominational-Bible Based. (we’ve had numerous unchurched, atheists and agnostics attend.)
Q: Do the meetings list available jobs that I can pick from?
A: NO. Although our members receive postings of jobs throughout the week via a special email system that only Tweeners have access to. (Many of these jobs come from the “hidden job market”)
Q: What type "out of work" people attend? A certain professional level? Degreed?
A: Our members are come from all types and levels of education backgrounds; some are college educated (degreed, and non-degreed), and some have high-school or trade-school backgrounds.
Likewise, we have members from the skilled trades, retail, clerical and administrative, technical, professional, supervisory and management, and executive levels. Some of our members are licensed and unlicensed, certified and accredited, and others have none. We come from every imaginable profession, industry, country and work experience you can imagine. And we all gather each week as a family, sharing stories, and helping each other through our “in-between” time.
Q: What do I need to bring with me when I come?
A: You are REQUIRED to bring with you:
- an open mind to learning and adapting to today’s job market
- faith, that our Creator only wants good things for us, and loves you
Q: Will you fix my resume?
A: NO, but we’ll show you (and help you) to fix YOURS. We provide resume help, and career counseling for FREE to our members.
Q: Can I bring a friend who's out of work?
A: YES. Often, it’s easier for an individual to get help, when a friend or loved one asks them to join them.
Q: Do I have to attend every week?
A: NO. You’ll want to be interviewing and actively networking, and recognize that these may take precedence over the Thursday Tweeners meeting. BUT, if you’re not going to an interview, or an networking meeting, you’ll want to be here, because we provide the BEST way for you to shorten the amount of time you are out of work.
Q: Is this group part of the
A: NO. We are a church-based ministry, independent of any government agency, with one singular purpose – to assist you in your in-between time. You need to be enrolled for your unemployment benefits through the Workforce Alliance, and should also be actively participating in the many programs they offer for job seekers.
Q: Do I have to volunteer to attend?
A: NO. (But we love it when you do, because we are a volunteer supported group)
